Pavakkai / Bitter Gourd Fry


         Bitter gourd or pavakkai(in tamil) is most bitter among all vegetables.Its been used as a natural remedy for a range of ailments,including diabetes.This is one of the most effective natural remedies for getting rid of intestinal and gastric worms ..Lots of recipes can be prepared using bittergourd ...
This recipe is very simple and healthy...



Prep Time: 5 mins
Cook time: 10 mins
Serves: 3

Ingredients:

  • Bitter Gourd - 2 medium size nos
  • Sambar Powder - 2 tsp
  • Salt - as required
  • Oil - 3tsp
  • Mustard - 1/4 tsp
  • Curry leaves

Method:
Cut the bitter gourd into slices.

In a pan add oil,bitter gourd and fry for few mins.

Add in Sambar powder and salt,saute it.
Sprinkle very little water and close the lid.

Cook them covered for 5 mins in a medium low flame.
Stir it and allow it to cook in low flame for another 5 mins in the same vessel or in a tawa.
Cook them soft and do not fry them crispy.
Serve hot with Rice.....
