Ingredients:
- 2 big Brinjal / Kathirikai
- 1 big onion or 10 to 15 small onions finely chopped
- 3 medium size Tomato finely chopped
- 4 Green chillies finely chopped
- 1 tsp Tamarind paste
- Salt for taste
For tempering :
- Wash the brinjal,Roast it on medium open flame by applying oil on it.
- Let it cool ,after 5 minutes peel the skin of the brinjal.
- After peeling the skin, put it in a bowl of water and rinse the brinjal to remove the excess smoke smell and the remaining tiny burnt skins.
- Mash the brinjal to ensure that there is not insects in it.
- Now mash it nicely with your hands or cut it using knife or if you want a smooth paste you can blend it in mixie.
- Now in a pan add oil and put the temper items,then add onion green chillies.
- Fry till the onion turns golden brown colour and add the tomato and salt.
- Once the tomato gets mushy add the brinjal,tamarind paste and mix well.
- Add water and boil for 5 mins to bring it to Gothsu consistency.
- Garnish with Coriander leaves
Serve hot with Idli / Dosa ,Rotis etc....
