Channa Masala

CHANNA MASALA



Ingredients:

  • Channa - 200 gms
  • Onion - 1 big size, finely chopped
  • Tomato - 2 medium sized roughly chopped
  • Green Chilli -1 half slit
  • Coconut - 1/2 cup grated
  • Ginger - 1 inch
  • Garlic - 5 to 6 pods
  • fennel seeds - 1 tsp
  • Cloves - 2
  • Cinnamon - small piece
  • Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Garam masala - 1/4 tsp
  • Salt for taste
Method:
  • Soak Channa overnight.
  • Boil channa in cooker adding little salt
  • In a pan put 3tsps of oil, add fennel seeds cloves and cinnamon
  • Now add the ginger ,garlic ,green chilli and onions,fry till light brown
  • Add  the tomato and the dry powders and fry in low flames till the tomatoes get smashed.
  • Add the grated coconut and a spoonfull of boiled channa to the fried masala and let it cool.
  • Grind it and add the mixture to the boiled channa.
  • Add water and boil according to the consistency required.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Serve with chappathis,Batura,Parathas.....
